Teeth Whitening in Singapore

The short answer

We whiten two ways at Millenia Walk: custom take-home trays made from a scan of your teeth, used with a peroxide gel for a set time each day over two to three weeks, or chairside whitening completed in a single appointment. It lightens the natural tooth structure. It does not change the colour of existing crowns, veneers or fillings, which is the main thing to understand before starting.

What happens

  1. A check first, because whitening over untreated decay or exposed roots is uncomfortable and pointless.

  2. Scaling and polishing, so the gel works on clean enamel.

  3. A scan, and custom trays made to fit your teeth.

  4. Nightly or daily wear at home for two to three weeks, with a review in between.

Whitening works on the natural tooth. Restorations stay the colour they were made, so if you have a crown or a composite on a front tooth, the shade may need revisiting afterwards to match — we plan that order deliberately: whiten first, then match the restoration to the new shade.

Sensitivity during treatment is common and temporary. Using the trays for shorter periods, or every other day, usually resolves it. Teeth stained grey from tetracycline or trauma respond poorly to whitening, and we will say so rather than take your money.

Questions

How long do the results last?

Typically one to two years, depending on coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. Top-up gel for your existing trays is inexpensive.

Will it whiten my crowns and fillings?

No. Whitening only lightens natural tooth structure. Existing restorations stay as they are and may need replacing to match.

Is it safe?

Peroxide whitening at professional concentrations, in properly fitted trays, is well established. The usual side effect is temporary sensitivity. It is not suitable during pregnancy or for children.

Do you do in-chair whitening?

Yes. Chairside whitening is done in one appointment at the clinic, and take-home trays are worn over two to three weeks. Chairside is quicker; take-home gives you more control over how far you go and is easier to top up later. Both lighten natural tooth structure only. We will tell you which suits your teeth, and fees for both are published.
